The Dallas Rattlers have advanced to the 2018 MLL Championship after defeating the New York Lizards by a score of 15-12 at Ford Center at The Star.
The Rattlers never trailed in the game as they secured their spot in the championship game. At half, the Rattlers held a solid 9-5 lead but the Lizards crept back into the game later in the second half. Despite allowing three straight goals late in the fourth quarter, Drew Simoneau won his 24th faceoff of the night to let the Rattlers run out the clock.
Dallas will now face the Denver Outlaws for the Steinfeld Trophy on Saturday, August 18. The Rattlers have won both meetings with the Outlaws this season. The last loss to the Outlaws came in last year's semi-finals, a defeat the team has used as motivation throughout the year.
"These guys believed early on back in November that we could do this. We have unfinished business to take care of now," said head coach Bill Warder. Since relocating to Texas from Rochester, New York in November of last year, the Rattlers have earned a league-best 11-3 record and the second highest attendance mark.
